The big problem was that there was no empathy with any of the characters - some good acting from some of the cast, but I felt as if I was on the outside looking in.
I also felt that the whole piece was rather bland - a competent but uninspired view of the excesses of the 80's.

Didn't like Dan Stevens - nowhere near sensitive and sweet as Nick Guest in the book; somehow rather beefy and straight.
Also hate Tim McInnerny (he was the worst Frank'n'Furter in the Rocky Horror show I've ever seen - Tim in fishnet stockings is NOT a pretty sight).
I found the TV adaptation irritating and simplistic.
Sorry, Andrew Davies; not on a par with Bleak House.
