veritas I have to concur with JC-BR...if only anti-depressants were 'happy pills"!

I'm happy (?) to admit I've had 2 episodes on prozac-not for over 10 years now and they are the wonder drug that saved so many millions of Yanks. But the way they work is to 'normalise' your outlook and make you at least optimistic as opposed to pessimistic.

However-I wouldn't be surprised if Brown was a depressive-he has all the symptoms to me as a backroom doctor and analyst.

I always preferred Brown to Blair who although early on I was taken in by-within 2 years I regarded as the biggest phoney of all time. Sadly whatever Brown does and says, he is doomed as part of a corrupt regime.

ps; a TV producer friend who is bi-polar recently told me he has thrown away his pills as although he gets the most brilliant highs (accompanied by horrific lows) ant-depressants were killing his creativity.

Imagine all those old artists, masters and composers in the past who suffered from "melancholia' with no escape !
Angel BR, Its not any of our business to know if he is or isn't on "happy pills." Someone dear to me is prescribed them and to be honest i found your comments a tad offensive.

What rubbish.

Anti-depressants are not "happy pills" and do not make you break out in "grinning smiles" at all. I've been on anti-depressants for 4 years and am perfectly normal, thank you.

Why should the fact that the Prime Minister is on anti-depressants be a problem? I would have thought it was a sign that he is taking care of his health. Millions of people take anti-depressants and hold down demanding jobs.
BR The interview was supposedly "set piece" - all questions had been decided in advance by BROWN.

Even the PAINKILLER question.

Why ? because the REAL rumours doing the rounds in Parliament is that BROWN is on ANTI-DEPPRESSANTS !!!!

so he answered honestly that he has no painkillers.

The tell tale signs are his grinning smiles which break out every so often - as on You Tube. These are classic signs of someone on "HAPPY PILLS" - and someone has found out.....

Be interesting to see if the rest of the press will believe this BBC set piece or actually "OUT" his anti-depressant taking.

The media are awful soft on our PM. I expect they do feel a bit sorry for him. But he should be given the same treatment as all others in politics.

Someone should ask him about the Anti - Depressants and see what answer he gives
JC He's brought in Tony Blair's old advisers and script writers so no surprise that he's been coached to come across better in interviews. However, as with Blair, actions (and policies) speak louder than confidence and charm.
