veritas	the current Oz PM Kevin Rudd was active anti-Iraq & Afghan wars from the beginning but is now stuck with it. I think he's looking for a way out-he withdrew the troops in Iraq and left only army engineers etc to help with re-building. As he still hovers around 70% approval rate after 2 years with his party around 60% everything he does is being well received.
Emma Bee	Surely any good commander will explore all of his options, including looking for a way to bring hostilities to an end as soon as possible. That's not quite the same as cutting and running.
