Emma Bee I think the only massive victory here was for those voters who declared apathy towards politics. With such a low turn out / major rejection of the election process, no party can claim genuine success.

They should all go away and think about that.
david I know it was a by-election, but what a shameful turnout.
Innocent Accused The Tories only beat the BNP by 62 votes.
A good win for Labour,but a quarter of the voters vote for an independent Scotland.These are large percents for deviance,and bode ill for both the Union and consensus politics.
JK2006 I rather prefer the spelling BYE election.

veritas I keep telling these Aussies who complain constantly about compulsorary voting tht they don't know how lucky they are.

At least they get a majority verdict when they vote and not a government that wins with a minority of votes.
