I missed Part One due to Quentin (excellent - see other thread) but will probably watch tonight without bothering to catch up (know the story well).

This was okay but, so far, I prefer the older BBC production. I have to admit I haven't read the book, although my brother did when we were younger and he reckoned the original TV series didn't live up to it. I found parts of this production very similar to parts of the new Survivors - especially with the closed community run by a surviving female minister who becomes at odds with the main female character. Of course, that might be in the book.
Why were the ordinary British police carrying side arms? Up until the blindness there was no emergency situation.
Also, the original series acknowledged that there were already blind people who were quite used, and so still in control of their situations. So far, this new adaptation hasn't shown that.

Nice production, nice acting, but I really don't like the story. Like a lot of John Wyndham's books, they just sort of end with the story still unfinished, as if he couldn't be bothered to close his novels.
