I've never yet met an American that I didn't like and get on with ... its just when they become a collective the beast takes over !

Having several friends and contacts in the Middle East, I can say that Obama has achieved quite a major change in attitude towards the USA following his tour of that region. There was enormous mistrust and hostility towards the USA under the Bush regime. Now the vibes are entirely different. I would give Obama a major thumbs up for that. It's the underlying tensions which he has managed to soothe. Not all change is visible to the naked eye. He's laying some very good foundations. You need to look beyond the superficial.

This is good news ... but it is all talk, given the ongoing rhetoric against Iran (and now Yemen) ?
veritas again..a good post. Some of his speeches in the ME have been excellent and again I say-do not underetimate the effect of the US electing a black president especially around the world and in the Middle East.

veritas About right...changing the US is like turning around a giant ocean liner and there's every chance it could hit an iceberg.
