david BR I agree that it is sad seeing someone's life disintegrate in public, whoever they are.

However, Iris Robinson made such a public show of her morality that you can't help thinking that the lady did protest too much.

You get this all the time from religious zealots who are obsessed with other people's sexuality and end up being the biggest offenders themselves (US tv evangelists/Roman Catholic priests).

(pls note I refer to religious zealots, not by any means all people of faith).
BR I find the splashing of their private life all over the media very distasteful.

We have the bigger story of Harriet Harman - who has escaped a prison sentence today because the Police did not charge her with the main offence - someone who has intentionally broken the law.

This is a personal matter.

In a free country - everyone is entitled to an opinion on everything - even if that opinion is wrong.

Very sad story. I dont like seeing peoples' lives disintegrate.
JK2006 The boyfriend is very cute however. She clearly has good taste in young men. Good luck to her; perhaps now she'll discover a Sapphic tendency.
david now I should preface this by saying I have the greatest sympathy for anyone suffering for mental illness. I do myself and it is a bad place to be in.

however

Mrs Robinson was very vocal with her views about christianity and how homosexuality is an abomination.

as someone said the other day- "Mrs Robinson, I didn't choose to be homosexual, but you did choose to commit adultery"
