Foz Very interesting programme. McCloud still adopts his disparaging critique of his hosts accommodation in their presence as he does on Grand Designs which appeared quite disrespectful at times.
JC On Ch4. Wonderful and insightful.

Near the end he marvels at how all the generations mix together without any kind of phobias, and how strong and happy the community is despite the lack of mod cons and luxuries. There is hardly any crime, possibly because everybody knows and supports each other and any criminal would have to face the wrath of the entire community. And there is no chance of a body being found half decomposed in a flat because nobody noticed that the person had died. These people have something which our Western society has lost.

Love the bit where he tastes bread made in the slum. He refers to the bread made in clinical conditions by people who look more like surgeons in their white, germ free, producing plastic tasteless bread compared to the enjoyably tasty bread of the slum.
