Topic History of: well the riots have started and it wasn't the english

This has to be a good thing, and I hope it is not an isolated incident.
Not wanting to add oil to the fire or anything, but a brief glance at many newspapers in the UK gives a very scary view of the country to anyone from Germany or France. But that's just the loony tabloids, you might say. OK, then carry a pen around with you and note every time you hear "jokes" about frogs and krauts. The back of your hand will be blue pretty quickly. You don't really notice it until it's pointed out to you.
My son's 12 year-old team went to play in Poland a few years back. They turned up on the day all proudly wearing Polska T-shirts they had found in a tourist shop. The reception they received would bring a tear to the most cynical eye (and probably defused any vibes when we later won the tournament). Sometimes it doesn't take much to turn footy into the celebration it is meant to be. |

There are alot of England supporters in Germany because its relatively close, and cheap to get to. Little trouble last time (in Japan) as it was out of reach of most "supporters".
They can probably even have their dole money sent to Germany too ! |
