Most people dont realise that once they steal your stuff often they never give it back ! I have had two sets of top lawyers that I know looking into this and they have found an obscure 19th century law which they think I can use if I decide to try and get it back through the courts. At the moment I want to wait for the elections to be over - then I will consider it based on the result. If New labour get back in then it is not worth doing to be fair. I should have claimed on insurance - I did claim on my mobile phone insurance so I got a new phone I might add - but they insisted I sign a new 18 month contract. Until this happens to you then you dont realise that you have virtually no rights.
