you call that a frigging apology ?. It was a cop-out. I'd still sue the scumbags and make sure the fuckwit of a police constable was reprimanded.

I wonder whether he had his DNA taken ? (which is what most arrests are for these days.

I bet the police resist giving it back - even though he has an apology.

veritas There is much in what you say DR2 but I think the Pilgrim Fathers took their beliefs with them as they are rampant throughout the USA.

The Britain I knew culturally doesn't seem to exist anymore when I visit. All the naughty things that happened behind closed doors haven't fared well be coming out into the open as one would think they would.

I see it happening in Oz as well..once enjoying the place so much as it's beginnings gave it a sort irreverent lawlessness that is being transformed into the same priggish attitude. The world is being transformed into one giant funless , guilt ridden entity.
DR2 I am beginning to realise why those Pilgrim Fathers wanted so much to leave England for the New World in 1620 aboard the Mayflower. They didn't like the way the country was going, with the authorities persecuting them even though they'd done nothing wrong. So they got out to start a new life where they could be left in peace to get on with their lives. The way this country is going, I feel like leaving it, too. But, even if I was young enough and fit enough to go, where on this planet is there a New World to go to these days where there is no climate of fear and no draconian laws like those we have here? 1620 is now 390 years ago and it looks like history is repeating itself.

I was even more ashamed of my country when listening to BBC Radio 5 Live last night on which there was a supposed inteview with Nigel Farrage, of UKIP. The presenter, one Stephen Nolan, was very biased against him and was continually interrupting him and seemed determined not to let Nigel get his point across. I can't stand Nolan at all, but I listened to the interview because I wanted to hear what Nigel Farrage had to say. After three minutes of not being allowed to, I gave up and switched over to Radio 4. Someone ought to remind Stephen Nolan that the BBC is supposed to be impartial. That impartiality is written in its charter. His so-called "interview" was far from that. If I was running the BBC, I'd make sure Nolan was dismissed immediately!
