Prunella Minge Alf Ramsay was cold and charmless. He didn't do badly!
The Fat Controller I would love to see him as the England manager one day. Perhaps it's just me but I cannot warm to Capello. I find him somewhat cold and charmless.
Prunella Minge Well...I know what you mean, but I find him a bit risible. I think the key difference between him and Clough is that Clough only used the media when it suited him, whereas Maureen uses it whenever it suits them, which is not always wise (as was shown during his latter days at Chelsea). When Clough didn't have anything to say he'd tell the press to sod off. Maureen turns into a performing monkey and makes a fool of himself.

I think Clough also had genuine wit, whereas Maureen is wildly over-indulged by reporters too starved of the real thing to quibble about some of the banalities that come out of his mouth. He also seems more interested in the fact that he's beaten another team than he is in his own team winning - something that really riles other club's fans for no good reason. And I suspect there's still a terrible insecurity at heart because he still feels some regard him as the PE teacher turned translator who was never a 'real' football man. He's always getting his own back, so to speak, instead of enjoying his success.
JK2006 We need managers like that. Charisma is a very under rated quality.
