veritas The more I see of the Oz version of voting-compulsorary and preferential voting and gerrymanders impossible , the more I realise just how fair it is and overall the majority of people get the government they prefer.

And ideally the same would happen in the UK with the Upper House controlled by outsiders- like the Greens in Oz at present who prevent bills passing that are too horrendous or are able to get bad ones watered down.

Still in the end it boils down to half a millin votes in certain seats swinging one way or the other..but it has to be better than a government like Labour winning with 35% of the vote.
Innocent Accused Until we get PR most votes won't count.
You were right though,most people vote for the least bad option,and only occasionally do we see a real independent character like Martin Bell.
