BR Blair never delivered - hence we all know that "fine words" not backed by "Fine Action" will always be hollow.

I believe they are sincere - but they will have to FIGHT to change things. Have they got the GUTS and BOTTLE to be unpopular and create a New Politics when everyone around them will be screaming as their "vested interest" is threatened.

Evenm if it does eventually fail ... surely it's better to have tried, than not tried at all ?

It says an awful lot about the men involved that they put Country before Party.
david I kind of feel the same way, LO.
Locked Out You know, I've just been watching Matthew Parris on BBC News. He said he'd been trying desperately hard to be cynical but on balance had come down on the side of actually being quite convinced of the sincerity. He reckoned he had a good feeling about the arrangement. Just about sums up my own feelings. I've tried my damnedest to be pessimistic myself. Even I have to say this could... just could... be the start of something truly revolutionary in British politics. I certainly hope so because I'm tired of being this cynical. Maybe I'm just guilty, along with others, of a triumph of hope over expectation. Consensus is never a bad thing. I hope I'm not disappointed.

Funny, Pru; I, as a Cambridge man, winced at that line!

It's true, isn't it? A real culture thing!
