Prunella Minge By the way: come on Blackpool! They could be in the Premier League! Orange shirts! Baggy shorts! Stanley Matthews! Jumpers for goalposts! They could be our Pompey for a season. I will be willing them to victory!


(P.S. Start googling soon for Blackpool's 'Comedy Carpet' - it might sound mad, but I think it's going to be an amazing thing once it's finished. The arty people from 'Why Not' designers in London are working on it. It's going to be fab!)

I agree Giles. (But, seeing as a Chelski fan has submitted a response, I must also point out, in a similarly partisan spirit, that Liverpool haven't 'bought' much - those two crooks in charge have stuck a massive debt on us whilst stalling the club's progress on the pitch.)

BR Good post Giles. This whole "buying" the league is wrong and I think that there should be limits on clubs.

I hope Portsmouth come back stronger.

Chelsea Football Club has released a statement today (Wednesday) following media stories on club finance.
The statement reads:

'Contrary to media reports today, other than a small residual balance Chelsea Football Club and our parent company Chelsea FC plc are debt free and do not owe any money to our shareholder (Fordstam Ltd). Neither do we owe any money to Roman Abramovich.'
