B Flippin heck Veritas - that is some story !!! Is it in a book or a film ? because it is simply crazy......
veritas there was a quite extraordinary case here in Oz when a serial rapist who had attacked about 20 women was being hunted by a 50 strong task force of detectives.

Amazingly in a scene worthy of the best Hollywood movie, the head of the task force was arrested as the serial rapist and paraded past the press.

Yo can imagine the publicity and the lives destroyed. It was set-up by some bent cops out to get the commander but went too far.

The guy was cleared and got millons in compensation but died of cancer within 2 years.

One of the bent cops committed suicide, the other got 5 years. So many families destroyed. And the rapist never found.
BR This is truly shocking ( Taken from THE TIMES article on FALSE ALLEGATIONS Today see link at bottom )

"This is an excellent analysis which shows how important it is to uphold the principle that one is innocent until proven guilty. I would like this line of reasoning also to be extended to Catholic priests accused of sexually abusing children. I remember a few years ago such an accusation was made about Archbishop Ward, then Archbishop of Cardiff. The police tipped off the press who filmed him going into a police station in connection with the alleged offence resulting in news headlines. This was what the police called a 'fishing' exercise - they hoped more alleged victims would surface. In the end, the accuser turned out to be a mentally unstable woman who had made similar accusations and the case was dropped. But poor Archbishop Ward had to suffer the indignity of a public portrayal of him as an alleged child abuser."
