I never thought any ref would make Graham Poll look good but the Russian Michael Palin lookalike did a fine job. 16 Yellows, 4 Reds but only 25 fouls!!! Great viewing but all for the wrong reasons, plus he missed quite a few that by his standards should have been carded and how lucky was Figo!!
If Figo had picked up his well-earned red card, I think the rest of the match would have been less agressive. The Dutch were rightly annoyed by what was the ref's misjudged attempt to cool things. Overall, a disgraceful display by players that should know better.

The other side of the coin is that England will be playing a seriously diminished Portuguese team.

Robbiex Yes thats true, and also he has managed the sides that have knocked out England in the last two tournaments. Brazil in 2002 and Portugal in 2004, and I think he's going to do it again in 2006.
JK2006 England will be playing the side managed by the man they wanted and who turned us down!
