I think you are fighting a losing battle there ... sex is probably the oldest form of currency - and selling it is the oldest profession.
You are right - but I still have "romantic notions" of what sex could be. Perhaps I have been brainwashed into this state of mind....but though sex is natural I am still not convinced that buying and selling it and the porn industry actually brings any good into the world/life ? |

@Robbie He clearly enjoyed looking at extreme pictures of small children being abused. He also enjoyed looking at pictures of animals being abused. That doesn't necessarily mean he's sexually attracted to children or animals. Websites that show nothing else but videos of terrorists and mexican drug gangs cutting peoples heads off attract millions of viewers a day. I'm not sure all of them watch these videos to get sexually turned on. Some people just have sick, morbid interests.
@BR I think you're hopelessly naive if you think sex isn't always something that is bartered and sold. Prostitution and porn do clearly lower the asking price of sex (for women), and that is why most women object to prostitution and porn - it takes power away from them. But a woman who demands commitment and protection (or dinners) from a man before she agrees to sleep from him is just as much trading her sex as is a prostitute or a porn actress. The only difference is that the prostitute sells it below the market (non-prostitute) price.
Actually, if you want to regulate and control sex it is YOU who are defining it as a commodity whose price needs to be fixed and artificially kept high.
As far as I know, every society that currently bans porn, also bans the possession or viewing of it. Even in the UK, any type of porn that is illegal to sell, it is also illegal to consume it.
I think it would be a wonderful world if men and women could just f*** in the street whenever the fancy took them, as in that Roger McGough poem. I understand that it could never happen whilst human nature remains as it is though. In a hundred or two hundred years, when we are all 'transhuman', who knows? |

I believe ALL porn should be banned on exploitative grounds. It reduces women and men to mere sex objects rather than beautiful human beings.
I think EVERY porn image is disgraceful and disgusting.
Porn is just an image of the sexual act which is the most natural thing in the world. However like anything else people can become obsessed with it and this is an illness like any form of obsession. I don't see the point of putting this man in prison. He didn't actually harm those children, he was merely looking at the pictures of someone harming him, which is more sad than anything else, just like when drivers slow down to look at a car accident, they are not responsible for the accident. You say that he isn't a real paedo, well if you look at 4000 images of young children then it is fair to say that you are sexually attracted to children, which is the definition of a paedo. |

I like you a lot BR, but you seem to have lost it here.
I think it's terrible we live in a society where, due to the ridiculously broad definition of CP, 90% of males are criminilized and can be taken out by the state whenever it so pleases.I thought you agreed. But it sounds like you want that percentage raised to 99%.
By the way, did you know that according the banding categories for child porn, watching a video of a 17 year old girl masturbating is level 2 whilst a picture or video of a naked toddler posing suggestively is level 1 (LESS serious!)?
OK Blacklisted - let me explain - maybe I wrote that in too harsh a way...... I dont look or watch porn. I dont want anyone "criminalised" for it - but I do still think it should be "banned" because it exploits others. Slavery was banned for exactly the same reason - and I see no difference between sexual slavery and slavery....does that make sense ? I dont like to see sex being used as a WEAPON or CURRENCY. It should be an act of love between two people......it has been devalued to "fast food" rather than "gourmet main course"
I am all for admiring beauty by the way and dont have a problem with that - so art and stuff is fine.
The "Porn Industry" degrades people. In particular I think taking/vieiwing "Porn" pictures of children under the age of puberty ( Paedophile definition ) is very disturbing. People who find these things sexual should be offered help though - not condemnation.
I want to see kids protected. At the moment our Legal System makes it more likely that people who have this particular problem get forced underground. We need to see ALL porn as slavery in my view - and I know I sound like Ms Harperson a bit or even Mary Whitehouse but I cant see any positives in Pornography ?
That is my personal view and I am sure there are many who will differ. I do appreciate beautiful men and women I might add. I am a human after all !! |
