We haven't even tried high street shops - like music, films and books are moving towards online availability and Amazon gives us a totally global sales outlet (over a thousand hardbacks shipped so far).

My recommendation. Having read the book, I think I would have preferred to have started by reading Part 2 first, followed by Parts 3 and 4. Then, on the assumption that I wanted more, I could then read Part 1. (Part 1 is JK’s early life. Though interesting, it’s not as enjoyable read as the rest). I think it was Frank Skinner, in his autobiography that said people often like to skip past the early bits of celebrity biography so they can get to the bit where the author becomes famous.

I don't want to be too negative as this book does look like an interesting read. Have there been any problems getting mainstream bookshops to stock it? I didn't see it in Waterstones.

I'm sorry Hamlet; many similar complaints; it will be corrected in the paperback.

This arrived from amazon today, however it has no index. I find biographies without an index very frustrating; you have to root through the whole book to find the juicy bits & the celeb anecdotes. This is also a long book. However I did find the Bowie/Bolan anecdotes .
