BR	Foz is right www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1293027...-switch-date-FM.html Looks like the outcry was massive - and they have backtracked. FM is vital - and lovely - and music lovers enjoy its richness ( despite hiss ) which Digital can never give. In addition all car radios - home stereos dating back to the 70s - wind up radios - etc have FM frequencies. If it aint broke dont fix it - it is popular and I see no reason until the DAB market is in the region of 75% which it may well be in 10 or 15 years time. Until then let it be.
veritas	I access a lot of internet digital stations and aLso love thE fact of being able to find old shows, podcasts etc but haven't yet found anything as pure as FM

Foz	I wholeheartedly agree with BR (is this a first?!). This is a pet hate of mine and has been handled dreadfully. Previously I was an advocate of DAB and bought several of the radios. Now, realising that I seemingly can only pick up BBC and religious stations, the sound quality is actually inferior to FM, and the technology development was frozen nearly 30 years ago, so was out of date before DAB started broadcasting. Coupled with the fact that it was another 'like it or lump it' policy (like id cards) of Blair's which expected the taxpayer to fork out for the cost. I think they are beginning to back track as they now have not set a date, but are reviewing it in 2015, there are 100m radios which will need to be chucked away and 30m FM radios in cars that will need to be replaced. I expect it will be shelved (like id cards) or put back another 5 years when they realise that people are still listening to FM in 2015. I am an advocate now of internet radio - 10,000 stations available and you can listen again to broadcasts.
