ACPO first out of the blocks to moan - what a suprise. Via their press service the BBC.

"BBC home affairs correspondent Danny Shaw says: Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police Peter Fahy - who speaks on workforce issues for the Association of Chief Police Officers - tells BBC News the cuts to policing are broadly in line with expectations. He says the cuts will affect front-line policing and there is "no question" there will be fewer police officers after four years."

Live coverage and comments from around noon. Announcements at 12.30 from George Osborne.

Could be a very historical day. If they get it right then they save us from BROWN's dreadful spending spree. If they get it wrong then they could launch us back into the dark medieval ages and the UK could end up bankrupt.

Big stakes.
