veritas I will be thinking of you all as I take my daily swim in the refreshing surf at Bondi Beach and then laze about on the warm sand before retiring to my favourite bar for a Mai Thai or 2.

actually today it's pissing down with rain. Most unusual. Like the tropics. Something is happening with the weather.
BR Snow in November like this lasting for 2 weeks is VERY unusual ! Snow in November is fairly unusual in itself but I cant remember such a prolonged period of cold ( they say it will last well into NEXT week......and already it is nearly a week long )

I agree it is the lack of Sun activity coupled with the Gulf Stream....Jet Stream thingybob.

We should be a very cold island in the UK and we are lucky to be warmed by the stream which keeps our climate temperate. The BP oil disaster seems to have slowed this current substantially according to the climate buffs - and they predicted we would have a very cold Christmas because our weather is going to come from Scandinavia - Siberia and Iceland without its warming effects.

Get wrapped up because this FREEZE may last until March if that is the case......

12 inches and getting bigger! Streets unpassable, groups of people with sledges, no vehicles, eerily quiet and well, just lovely.

at least it'll get rid of the midges, angel !

Bbbbbbbrrr.....buzz off!!
Prunella Minge Snow isn't that unusual in late autumn/winter. Once again, BR's mock amazement is a bit wearying. As is the ludicrous TV reporting: they are so eager to cover all bases, they're simultaneously saying it's all lovely and fun but also frightening and ominous (and, of course, they always just happen to choose Scotland to relate how "Britain" is covered in snow). I have to travel on Wednesday and it's really irritating that they can't just report things without trying to crank up the anxiety. It's like kids are presenting the news.
Anthony If only it were freak weather. We'll probably have to get used to this and worse for the next 20-30 winters, with sunspot activity at its lowest for centuries and apparent changes in the patterns of the jet stream.
