The IMF is a scam along with 'globalisation' whioh are about perpetuating the rule of corporations and their masters. Unfortunately when the crazies get into power you have a choice-completely opt out or try and work within the system. The unions and old Labour war horses try to do that just as many principled ones resigned over Blair's lies about the illegal Iraq invasion. You won't get me defending the last government particularly as they paved the way for the Tories !
