Plissken Angel, have you actually read any of the news reports detailing what actaully happened...?

www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-0106-sf...0106,0,1005986.story

Read this, and then tell me they could have done something differently.

Of course, they could have shot to kill. But they didn't.

In the interests of balance, Angel, you might have mentioned the fact that the wheelchair bound guy actually got out of his chair and walked around at one point.

The cops were called because he was slashing tyres in the street. Oh, and he also stabbed one of the cops.

I'm no fan of plod, but you can't really blame them.

The cops shot a man in a wheelchair the back. There was no other option? Get real.
In The Know Anyone seen the list of "most read / shared" items on the BBC website ?

The list (at 16.10) is -

Shared -
1: Undercover officer switches sides

2: Eta rebels call 'permanent truce'

3: Fury over doctor's book on sex education for Muslims

4: How far will an electric car go?

5: Edinburgh Zoo panda deal clinched

Read
1: Leader of paedophile ring jailed

2: Police criticised for 'native' Pc

3: Are the Beckhams more likely to have another boy?

4: Carcass photos force park changes

5: Edinburgh Zoo panda deal clinched

6: Solicitors charged with £1m theft

7: How far will an electric car go?

8: US mourns Arizona shooting dead

Proving (conclusively !) that the people in the UK are not the slightest interested in how many Yankers shoot each other - and are far more interested in animal welfare at Edinburgh Zoo !

On an (almost) different topic, Tucson is one of my favourite US cities.

Worth reading the frontpage editorial / comment in the Independent, which portrays the USA as a sick, valueless society.

Thanks ITK, you write:

"Initial reports (esp of Breaking News) are often a little confused and lacking in detail."

Indeed. That's exactly why it is helpful to link to them. Readers can then judge for themselves whether they support your claims.

Best Wishes,
Jim

But Jim - they are not "my claims" - they are claims made by the media (radio etc) in the heat of the moment - and later retracted or ammended !
