Topic History of: alleged "police cuts" - the truth !

In The Know So Labour are stirring it again claiming 10,000 frontline police cuts by 2012.

Nonsense ! The cuts only average 4% a year - if they can't make substancial savings there is something wrong. (Even the Inspector of Constabulary, in his last report, said that the police could cut 12% without anyone noticing any difference !).

One interesting aspect, though, is this -

If time pressures mean that the police will have to concentrate on actually doing what the public wants them to do (ie get out on the streets !) will this curtail "fishing and trawling" expeditions ?
