Prunella Minge And the Oliver in the David Lean version was...John Howard Davies, who grew up to be that most irascible of BBC entertainment executives.
JK2006 Though it's nowhere near as great as the b&w original (with that classic Sikes/Bullseye scene) it's a terrific film and brings back memories of Lionel who I knew well and Shani Wallis who I adored as Irma La Douce when I was 15.
