veritas The journo was only having goes at those who were not a threat..JK and last year's honored guest.

Woody Allen would be ruling the roost at Cannes this year so the journalist wasn't going to upset this year's power base.
david The guy who wrote that piece had clearly not seen the film. It was a shoddy piece of 'journalism' considering it was from the Independent.

There is an interesting comment below the article pointing out that Woody Allen, also at Cannes, married his adopted daughter and no one is talking about that... and that Elvis had his underage girlfriend brought to Germany... But then they were alpha males being all heterosexual so I don't suppose that counts.

(plus no one ever mentions your appeal)
veritas good publicity but what an utterley disgraceful piece in it's tone.

Everyone deserves the benefit of re-building their life after a situation like yours and for a supposed forward thinking newspaper like the Independent to reduce itself to tawdry tabloid style rubbish really reflects badly on them.
giles2008 I had to look again at what newspaper I was reading. I thought it was the Daily Mail. The Independent certainly isn't what it used to be. Twist is right. There's more criminal children in "Oliver Twist" than in "Me Me Me".
JK2006 Twist reality to fit the "great (lead) story"!
Thanks Rob!
