veritas enjoyed Margaret Drabble's piece on this.

shutting down the NoTW was a sheer act of barstadry and shows Murdoch & Co had this plan in the pipeline probably for a couple of years as a fall back.

No business plans to start a new Sunday title on a whim.

And Drabble was correct..destroying unions helps no-one except the powerful.

Her comment that Murdoch isn't even British is relevant. He has no attachment to any British values. But he doesn't have any attachment to Aussie ones either..a 'fair go' and all that.

Witness the way he and James have set out to destroy public broadcasting in the UK & Oz.
