JK2006 Just popped into my local Boots and they were down to their last "industrial size" After Sun with insect repellant ("they are going like crazy" they said).
JK2006 The After Sun contains aloe vera ("Allo Vera!") and is very soothing - rare in a repellant; I buy a huge industrial size one and use up every single drop!
Locked Out I get eaten half to death in Rome every year. We have friends who live in the Sabina and when we go to see them it's even worse. Never really found anything works terribly well so I just get on with it and try not to complain too much. The food, the sheer beauty of virtually everything I see and the friendship make it worth the while. I'll try the Soltan this year {only four weeks away!}. Thanks for the {unsolicited but nonetheless
very welcome heads-up!

PS. I forgot the gelato!
JK2006 On holiday last year, especially in Italy, I was eaten by mosquitoes and in itchy agony so this year I smeared myself in the excellent Boots generic Soltan which is a suntan/after sun lotion (not sticky and horrid smelling like most repellants) which contains repellant; worked very well except once when I forgot to put it on in Rome and was instantly bitten.

I spent much of the holiday gazing at bare legs ("pervert" - CPS) - I have never seen so many bites - children, old people, men, women... in Cannes it was like an epidemic. Now I read in The Sun that there is indeed an epidemic - bites 15% more than last year.
