Thanks veritas ... we're moving anyway due to this, but i know what to do in future. I'm still annoyed slightly that, like I said, the Old Bill broke my laptop (compo!) muha!

You have my sympathy but the reality is the police would never have the recourses to investigate a broken window.
My advice is to get security cameras which are cheap these days and have every bit of your house filmed.

In June, the Police came and took my computer alongside my laptop (which no longer works ... the buggers) based on a single accusation by a presumably bitter ex-friend that I had under-age people coming to my house, and I was snapping away on camera!
Absolute rubbish, as the Police soon found out when they brought my computers back two weeks later
Despite my innocence being proven, rumors are now floating about that I'm attracted to the younger variety and that I 'did' someone who was underage [which made me laugh, as the person who i supposedly had sex with also denies it happening, but you know what Chinese whispers are like!] this has caused our windows to be bricked, poison pen letters sent to me etc. and guess what? the Police do nothing.
It's been a week since the window was smashed and not a dickey-bird! How can I prove, once and or all, that I did sod-all? I also want to know how the justice system works. I'm getting harassed/slandered and the Police do nothing? C'mon ...
