and in a nutshell...that is the problem.
Entities like CIN become all powerful lobby groups that scoop up the charity dollar.
But their supporters will hear nothing of it because there undoubtedly will be many who do benefit from a charity but the majority will not.
I believe large organised charities are an anathema to the idea of charity. |

In fact if you have an aerial in and a Freeview TV tuned into radio stations only, that is possible on many boxes and TVs, you are also in the clear. Don't forget, they have to catch you watching it. |

No LO, if you have a detuned TV without an aerial plugged in, you do not have to purchase a TV Licence - this is made clear on TVL's website.
Okeydokey. What I said was certainly true once, but the law appears to have changed after all, then. I did acknowledge that that might be the case in my opening line. Apologies if I appeared to misled you, it certainly wasn't intentional. |

That's outrageous Steve. Whilst I agree with the sentiment behind CIN I too choose to give directly. I guess in a perfect world all charities would benefit. |

In my humble opinion the bad outweighs the good with these charity spectaculars.
That said most organised charities have gone commercial,with a pitiful amount of each donation actually arriving at the cause it was meant for.
When I was still at Infant school we collected money for vulnerable old people in the inner city.Every last penny went into purchasing shopping baskets etc for them,we gave our own time and petrol to deliver them.could you say the same now?
After that I was involved in other charities,till in my late teens getting heavily involved with Christian Aid.Many years later i give direct to the needy,without the middleman,the only way to ensure nobody gobbles up a share.
I could spout on for hours about this...but will spare you all lol.
Good reply Steve,let's hope that while Angel has every right to be grateful to CIN,there are others who also have every right to express the opposite view. |
