dixie I like Christmas. Firstly, because the year would be very dull if we didn’t have it, and, secondly, it does give the vast majority an opportunity to take time off their respecive treadmill. Most people do spend time with family and/or friends. Those who wish to, do go to Church. Children have an opportunity to both receive gifts and play a part in giving them. Whatever you believe, just have a few days when “the normal weekly pattern” is broken makes it all worthwhile.

If it’s not for you. Fine, but don’t spoil it for the rest of us.

I love Christmas; it's an excuse for families to get together and an excuse to pig out.

If only you could do the latter without the former. Every year I've just eaten too much and drunk too much, and am ready for a nice read and a snooze...and then the door bell goes and a bunch of relations bored stiff with each other have arrived to bore me.
veritas bah humbug from me as well.

I don't mind Xmas Day etc but this whole country shuts down for 2 months..school holidays etc..and you can't really escape anywhere because it's freezing north of the Equator and Asia is chock a bloc with tourists.

I'm just forced to spend days at the beach

Spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves at xmas.
Those poor, living alone, even living rough,it can't be nice seeing others enjoying themselves when your bed is a dirty blanket under a park bench!

Isnt that what Christmas is all about?

Isnt a park bench similar to a manger in a stable?

Who will feel closer to Christ?

I somewhat doubt you will be closer to Christ this xmas ITK
