Just shows that there ARE jobs out there - for those that want one and have the capacity to get one.
veritas missed a decimal point...2.9M ..but the real figure is far more and the figure for under employed is the scary one.

Still...a nation of Timson Shoe Shop Trainee Managers..what fun
Innocent Accused Just one question, how do you come by the figure of 29 million unemployed in the UK?

Dearest ITK..
given that there are (approx) 29 million unemployed in the UK and job vacancies of (approx) half a million (ONS..but may be many more)

Oh dear veritas !

We all know you are down under (and therefor on your head) but I didn't know that also meant you read things backwards too !

There are NOT 29 million UNemployed in the UK - thats the number actually employed (and paying taxes, maybe) to support your favourite welfare mums.

PS - I passed a Timpsons shoe shop (remember them) today and they had a huge poster in the window proclaiming TRAINEE MANAGERS SOUGHT.

Problem is ... I expect applicants will need to be able to read and write !
veritas Dearest ITK..
given that there are (approx) 29 million unemployed in the UK and job vacancies of (approx) half a million (ONS..but may be many more))..how do you propose to reconcile the two ?

taking into account all the permutations..scrounging mums, location, suitability for an occupation (qualifications etc) age etc etc

in 50 words or less...(preferably accompanied by a ten pound note)
