With an intellectual giant like Victoria Newton involved (don't go back to Merseyside, dear, after this) the only way is down, which in itself, for such a paper, will be an achievemnt of sorts. |

Ah yes, Mr McKuntzie - the man who made Gary Glitter a "legend", deliberately put utter bullshit on his front pages and encouraged bin-rakery hackery (*in both senses of the word). He deserves a modicum of praise for having some balls but in real terms he - and his bigotted, biased, bent, opinion-making vicious friends in the media - should be spat upon in the street and, in the true manner of the sick society they played so much part in shaping, hung from lampposts. They are seeking to validate their agendas and existence and their words are hollow. He should take the money he's made from other peoples misery throughout his career, shut the fuck up and retire somewhere. |

I'm biased in that I thought Kelvin was a terrific editor (who made some bad mistakes) but I did like him standing up loyally (and rightly) for his friends. Whatever we think of the Sun (I haven't seen it yet), the fact that it came out is a triumph for Dominic, Victoria Newton, the team and the boss.
It's swimming against the tide and generally I think all tabloids are now bland and boring but the fact that it's there at all (like a dog walking and a woman preaching) is amazing. |
