Innocent Accused |
I remember the Clarke allegations well, not a shred of real evidence, just gossip aimed at making impoverished locals a few rupees.

I notice over my morning cuppa that the "Independent" is running an absurd tale on the writer Arthur C.Clarke "exposing the science fiction writer Arthur C Clarke as a paedophile".
tinyurl.com/73h7p9q
It claims some old hack interviewed Clarke and he "admitted" it (read the story..he does not..a fabrication). The Indie has fallen for a piece of slimy scuttlebut by a pathetic creature who proudly boasted that he and others invented stories for the News of The World under the flame haired titan Mizz Broooks who demonstrated an unhealthy interest in other people's (including children) sex lives.
tinyurl.com/79gkq6a
(note the 'moody' shot of author wearing one of Frankie Howard's old toupees and how he admits to blackmail)
Perhaps Mr King is correct and Justice Leveson's inquiry is going astray. What is the point of "Fleet Street" being held to account if they will just repeat third party nonsense as though credible?.
facts :
Arthur C.Clarke was totally paralysed from the waist down in his early 30s due to a severe case of Polio. He had no feelings, sexual or otherwise 'down there'. He hid the fact cleverly much like the US president FDR.
Despite the Mirror claiming to have found 2 'victims' (cheap in Sri Lanka..the lads got £25 each from the hack who claimed it back on expenses although he said it was 200 quid) the boy's stories fell apart when being interviewed by the police and they laughingly told them they said anything for the cash as they hadn't eaten all day.
The Independent simply re-prints the ghastly hack's lies : Clarke indeed (after demanding both Scotland Yard, Sri Lankan Police and any others interested investigate him to the hilt-both did and dismissed the claims): Clarke was suing for libel, The Mirror, the hack, 4 NGOs who tried to get in on the act and 9 world-wide publications who re=printed the Mirror's fable.
It was a long and complicate law-suit as Clarke wished to prove a vast conspiracy to demonstrate "reporters" and others jump on a bandwagon and thus can create a believable scenario.
Anyone who knew him understood how his mind worked..he wished to show how myths are created.
At the time of his death, the law-suits lapsed.
Rupert Murdoch never met or ever knew Arthur C.Clarke. Clarke received his knighthood from the British ambassador eventually, the media having successfuly frightened off Prince Charles who was to invest him.
The real question : will we ever get to the real truth of how newspapers from the 60s onwards basically formed government policy and Pravda like, threatened politicians who dared to question their power? |
