steveimp Once saw him coming out of a bookmakers in Lincoln (he was in a play at the time at the Theatre Royal). Even at the young age that I was, I thought obviously Eddie Yates was just Geoffrey Hughes but with another name!

robbiex Also played the voice of Paul MacCartney in the animated film "Yellow Submarine", but for me will allways be Eddie Yates in Coronation Street.
GoldenBallsup Great memories of some great lines delivered by Great Brit Scouser, BIG Geoffrey Hughes R.I.P.

c.1966 'Z-Cars'. As a 'scally'wag heavy in a train corridor blocked by several cops, "Gerr outta me road - scuffers !!"

c. 1974 'The Binmen'. "Piggin Colin Bell ?"

c. 1990s 'Keeping Up Appearances'. Nagged by Daisy for wearing his string-vest & baggy jeans to visit Hyacinth, "You didn't tell me it was a formal do." AND, commenting on a passing tramp, "There are some right scruffs around, these days !"
