Ecclestone was a big mistake. Even he has admitted that. The only problem I have with Dr Who is the low quality of writing .. that and the dreaded Pond. It needs like a stable influence (e.g. Anthony Horowitz) to balance it all.
The Cubes episode was a mish-mash of stuff swept up from the cutting floor. Very bad.

There was a time when Dr Who was an incredible series that would appeal to adults and children.
That completely changed when the 'relaunch' happened.
The Ecclestone series was not bad, but it has slowly gone down hill ever since.
Everyone RUNS all the time.
"Quick to the Tardis", " Run from the baddies", "Quick Quick"
At the same time they are only trying to appeal to children.
If this was on CCBC I think it would be considered quite good.
Kill it off now and put it out of misery and let us remember the great times of Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee et al.

Things happen far too fast this year, they are trying to cram in a 90 minute story into 45 minutes and it's not working. The best dramas aren't as fast paced as this at all - look at Cracker or Prime Suspect. They aren't slow, but it's not zoom zoom zoom with information.

Not that it took much more than a couple of twirls with the sonic screwdriver to sort them out.
There's a crucial, vital ingredient missing from this series but I can't quite put my finger on what it is.
