A genuine claim would have been made at the time.
Currently Savile's reputation is being denigrated by faceless / nameless individuals who can never be tested in Court (for example to see what their character is like !!)
Should we all just turn our backs like people have been doing all these years?
Sounds if you have already decided -why bother with a Judge and Jury ?
Or maybe we are better than that?
or just more stupid and gullible ?
Well said ITK,this time you're spot on.

ITK may be wrong !!!
BBC Look North now saying their are calls for his body to be exhumed !
Meanwhile, a couple of interesting snippets -
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said it had not received any complaints about Savile during that period.
Andrew Bannister, trust spokesman, said: "Two individuals have contacted the hospital to share their concerns about things that happened with Jimmy Savile in the 70s but these contacts have only come to light in the last few days since the upsurge of publicity.
Former Met Police detective Peter Kirkham said: “I can’t think of anything on a similar scale to this.
“It’s going to end up being one of the largest, if not the largest, cases of child abuse full stop.
“People have only just started coming forward and that opens the floodgates as victims are given more confidence to report their experiences.
“If you think about the time scale and the various locations and opportunities he had you would have to say if all victims came forward there would be hundreds.
“But they won’t all come forward and it’s the job of the police to record the statements of those that do.”

it's a fair question but one you should direct to the editors of tabloids who promoted Jimmy Savile tirelessly over the years despite them claiming knowledge of rumours.
I don't think anyone on this forum was in a position to turn their backs. It was the mass media who were wringing their hands in grief a year ago over Jimmy's death.
