Hedda somehow flies in the face of the claims that he was a predatory pedophile (and serial killer?)...one might think that he would relish the idea of being seen with a permanent girlfriend to fend of 'rumours'.

the permanent bachelor part is not odd..many people like living alone.

bh I also remember Ray, quoting "frugal" on his own Radio show. Can't see a frugal bloke giving gifts & money to teenage girls, at all.
