In The Know (Reuters) - United Nations human rights investigators called on Israel on Thursday to halt settlement expansion and withdraw all Jewish settlers from the occupied West Bank, saying that its practices violated international law.

"Israel must, in compliance with article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, cease all settlement activities without preconditions. It must immediately initiate a process of withdrawal of all settlers from the OPT (occupied Palestinian territories)," said a report by the inquiry led by French judge Christine Chanet.

In The Know Russia has expressed concern at an alleged Israeli attack on Syria, saying such a strike would be an unacceptable violation of the UN Charter.

The attack came as Israel voiced fears that Syrian missiles and chemical weapons could fall into the hands of militants such as the Lebanese Shia militant group Hezbollah.

All hotting-up now ... just as I expected.

As I said before ... if you stand aside and do nothing - you cannot complain of the outcome !

We should have aided the Syrian people at the outset ... it is NEVER unacceptable that a people want to determine their own future, rather than be repressed by a dictator.
In The Know It looks as though that Mr Assad is shifting his chemicals (or maybe they are just anti-aircraft defences?) to his friends Hezbollah !

Either way ... the Israelis will not like it !

But, with Assad gone (soon) ... and the rebels unable to control their own country (because we have failed to arm and help them) Iran (friends of Hezbollah too !) could step in.

Our failure to help the Syrian people fight an oppressor may have very interesting consequences - just as I predicted.
