The Cardinal is already "working his notice" and the complainants have gone public in a malicious attempt to block the Cardinal from taking part in the Conclave.
If this "case" appeared in a Court it would be thrown out immediately.
Our system has gone potty - to please the do-gooders.
How wrong could one person be?
O'Brien has been the UK's biggest and highest profile homophobe for years - and now proven/admitted to be a world class hypocrite, as well. His arch hypocrisy - where he vehemently and very frequently denounced gays and lesbians - is worse than whatever he did privately.
To think that this chap very nearly was a Pope selector begars belief - and raises MANY more questions. For exapmle, how did he - as a priest/bishop/cardinal - get away with gay activity for years? But as the RCC is to hold the investigation behind closed doors, we may never know; however, legal action is a real possibility (this time!) in the UK.
Abuse cases are being looked into by the RCC (usually privately) in every continent - and it is now self evident that serious problems exist right to the top of this dated organisation, which is already seeing a steep and rapid reduction in revenues and donations.
Why should people pay to have blokes like O'Brien living in palaces?
Legal action for what? Hypocrisy is not a crime and neither is making a pass at another adult or having a relationship.
I am intrigued by the phrase "gay activity" It makes me think that they must be leaping about in leotards!
he was quite famous for miming to Barbra Streisand records at cocktail parties.

Male homosexuality was not decriminalised in Scotland until 1980.
Just one of many facts which, it is said, might be relevant......
Not very.
It isn't as if Scottish gay people were being carted off to jail left right and centre.
Right through the seventies in Scotland there were vociferous campaigns for gay rights and there was gay bookshops, gay discos, the international gay rights conference,Britain's first gay centre, SMG womens group,"Gayzette magazine" gay youth group etc etc etc all conducted very openly.

You'll be telling us that you didnt back (and lose money on) UKIP next (or that Don Valley isnt closing) !
Never said that Don Valley wasn't closing - just pointed out your gross error on cost.
Yes, I backed UKIP, but 'each way' of course and 'reverse forecast'......
My net gain was 27p.

And you now this how? (7 years, after university!! 'LOL'). So all the priests this 'disgrace for a cleric' molested were over 21? Its ok then?
THANK GOD - the law in Scotland (until 1980) was different and will catch this hypocritic predator. But, why continue to stick up for O'Brien, ITK - do you hope he might just escape because of legal timing?

Indeed.
These were all priests so would have spent 7 years qualifying AFTER university ... so all late 20's / early 30's?
