Supporting one side against another in civil war is a different and dangerous area.
is it ? British Imperialism !
Why anyone thinks Sheep Shaggers island was worth it is a mystery and you would have to be blind death and dumb not to have witnessed the orgy of nationalism that swirled about (working class was the worst) the nation as Maggie taught those Argies a lesson !
In the pubs, on the tube, TV, radio, on the streets as I wandered about sticking up ads for prostitutes in telephone booths...it was all I heard.
I was shocked.

One side almost always sees the other side as a repressive regime and quite often they are. But should we get involved in helping one (future) repressive regime kill supporters of another (past or present) repressive regime?

It is rarely "one side against another" - more usually one side against a repressive regime (which is collapsing by the minute).
Makes sense to support those seeking the freedoms that we already have - they are gonna win anyway, so best be on the "right" side !
Remember Iran, where we "propped up" the Shah? Look where that got us ! If we had supported the people initially maybe they would not have turned to the extremists for help?

at a certain cost ( British deaths and hundreds of young Argentinian sailors under dubious circumstances) and the usual PTSD problems for servicemen/women but hey....she secured an election on the back of a barren sheep shaggers island that is of no consequence.
some victory.
### you are ignoring the fact the Argentinians wanted to peacefully settle the dispute. Just as Saddam Hussein did but when a politician has a coming election...watch out !!
Let's hope that if someone invades London they don't get to blow it up first.
