Last night's episode was rather good; it may be settling in a bit.

Very true about the Frasier methodology.
But, this one to one gendre/concept/formula (of two odd blokes talking together, in a rather eccentric way) really started with 'Waiting for Godot' - the famous Samuel Beckett play.
Vladimir and Estragon talk endlessly....whilst waiting for Godot....
Both world class Vicious actors have taken the stage roles of V and E - not a coincidence, I feel.

Reminded me of that old show with the tailors ... one was Catholic and the other a Jew. What was it called?
Never Mind The Quality, Feel The Width

Good comparison - I also thought of the peerless "Frasier", whose writers team motto was "Write it gay, play it straight", something the "Vicious" writer might have bourne in mind...
That said, I did laugh out loud a number of times, there's too much talent on screen for it to be a total waste of time, but I can see it getting old very quickly, especially if they only ever stay in the flat...

And what a great title THAT was! Far better than Vicious Old Queens (the original title of the Ian/Derek show) which instantly made the concept starkly clear.
