A top celebrity at the BBC has been handed a written warning for “inappropriate behaviour”, it has been revealed.

The unnamed star is said to be a “high profile talent” whose offence relates to bullying or other unacceptable treatment of junior staff at the corporation.

They received the warning two weeks ago by the Beeb’s recently appointed director of television, Danny Cohen.

In a question and answer session at a Respect at Work seminar discussing the issue, Mr Cohen was asked if he would be prepared to sack someone - no matter how famous - if they were found to be guilty of bullying.

He said he had sent the written warning adding: “People can’t behave like that.

“The individual is a private case and it’s not fair to announce it, but we shouldn’t be afraid of it [their actions].

“We should treat talent with respect and they should do it back.”

In a tough warning which comes in the wake of the Jimmy Savile abuse probe and related scandals which have rocked the corporation, Mr Cohen said bullying at the BBC would “not be tolerated”.

He also hinted that offenders could be booted out, saying: “This needs to be a watershed moment. If there are bullies, they need to leave the organisation.

He added: “The key about communication in an organisation is that it has to allow the different levels across the organisation to talk to people across the organisation. Google do web chats with staff. I have started doing those.”

Before landing his new &pound;327,000-a-year-job in April, Mr Cohen was BBC1 controller.

His comments on bullying were reported in an article in the industry journal Broadcast.[/quote]

bh	Are there any high profile celebrities still working at the BBC?! I can only think of 2 & one of them is a thicko, the other a pensioner. Maybe they work for Radio "celebrity or non entity" 2. Which could be likely.
