JK2006 Proving CAMP is an essential ingredient in most great pop music.

Hi Pru

Interesting that you mentioned the 'Donna Summer' album. I have always thought it sounded like she didn't have much input into that album, that it was very much a Quincy Jones album, whereas the Moroder produced albums were real collaborations.

I listened to it again this evening though and have to say, there are some brilliant vocals on that album. And there's the great Springsteen song 'Protection'.

And of course this gem:

Prunella Minge Lush Life was a brilliant album, I played that to death.
david I remember we had a bit of a debate here about Donna Summer's legacy when she died last year, but as I said then, I've always been a huge fan.

In my very humble opinion she never had quite the credit she was due in the UK, yet she was someone who was always very much in control of her career, and not only a superb vocalist, but a good songwriter and cowriter and someone who embraced and drove an impressive diversity in her work.

Moroder/Bellotte/Summer were a legendary team, but her comeback album 'Crayons' in 2008 was, with the exception of a couple of dud tracks, pretty excellent.

Here is some of what I've been enjoying this evening:

Fame (The Game) (2008)
Her last single (and probably not what you'd expect her to do in her 60s)

Our Love (1979)
(up there with I Feel Love in my opinion)

Black Lady (1977)
A very big favourite of mine as a 14 year old, and the first time I really noticed her voice.

Thank you for indulging me
