Many people from the Western world do say that music was perfected in Liverpool. I still think Beatles are overrated as a band, their solo is overlooked bit the Mike Nesmith solo albums.

I think it is more a case of other bands being underrated and perhaps overshadowed.
JK2006 Yes I think the combination of Irish influences plus all the shipping to and from the port, added to the Northern English influences all caused an interesting Scouse music sensibility.

My theories about cross pollination improving culture will one day be examined!

JK2006 As it happens Andrew, I saw all the new developments for the music university there; the legacy of The Beatles has been and continues to be a major force in the improvement of the area; Paul McCartney has been quite amazingly devoted to improving the standards of education there. In many ways I felt just as I felt in the early days of the BRITS school in Croydon when only Obie and I bothered to encourage and assist the project but we both felt the future was tremendously encouraging.

Mastering our UK Records collection; goodness that city is getting renovated magnificently. Great train trip on Virgin - First Class (£5 extra) gets a fantastic full English breakfast and the journey is a mere 2 hours.

Did you take your anorak, pen, paper and camera phone ?
