JK2006 Yes this is a constant source of disagreement but I think the BPI doesn't want someone else to claim the name! It was, however, yours truly who came up with the acronym.
the Brits 25 book credits Jonathan Morrish for naming the BRITS
K I personally quite enjoy the show, probably because it's the only televised 'music event' of the year.

Some things I don't get though. Robbie Williams getting, "Outstanding contribution to music", really? I'm not knocking Robbie, I like Robbie, but he's hardly had an earth shattering carer. He was barely known in Take That and he received the award 10 years into his solo career, 4 years after it had spectacularly nose-dived. Paul McCartney only won it 2 years before him, what was going on there?

The other annoyance for me is the lack of respect given by the TV channel. One televised, glamorised music event a year and they can't push back the news if it overruns by a few minutes? I've lost count of how many football matches the rest of the humanity has had to put their lives on hold for, why do they discriminate?
dixie Is there a "Lifetime Achievememnt Award" This year. I do feel there are scores of acts that would go down well. Not only the obvious (Rolling Stoes), but Roxy Music, Depeche Mode, Madness, UB40, Iron Maiden, etc. (I'm sure your tipsters can suggest a few!).
dixie That's pretty much how I remember it. There have been some good shows since, but it hasn't been consistant. I shall be at the O2 tomorrow night and see how it goes. But I do look on the early shows as being my favourites.
