One wonders where Tom Jones would be today - had he not got his "break" filling in for Proby after he was banned from a tour for those trouser-splitting incidents.
Incidents that Proby never recovered from - his career was downhill all the way after that.

Jim and I recently (well, a few years ago) got into regular correspondence after I told him I think his version of I Can't Make It Alone was one of the ten greatest tracks ever recorded.

Proby probably had the finest voice of all the singers in the 1960's.He's still going strong & still sings incredibly well but even tho' he has a group of lovely loyal fans I feel he should be getting much more recognition. He can sing absolutely any kind of song & whichever song he does perform he always does it the best. Many singers are called Legends,Proby should also be placed in that group.

Liberty, surely ?
His first couple of releases were on Decca but then someone realised he was still under contract to the US label !
