Merlin The chart; everyone is so excited by the prospect of DOWNLOAD ONLY.
Me, the Wizard with the Crystal Ball?
I'm not so sure.
I can see retail disaster and that will affect music. Record shops at best were more than retailers - they were meeting places for the like minded.
Has anyone sat down to think: what can we do to help retail?
Isn't that what BARD are for?
And my opinion on the chart?
It should be a HUGE promotion and marketing tool, which it has never been anywhere else. Why was it in the UK? Because TV, radio and Press depended on it.
That's the crucial element. Make it vital again, Media: then we shall all benefit.
And media will only grab it if WE make it exciting too.
End of predictions; now I'm off to grill a reindeer.
