Andy Digital Spy lists 11 openly gay winners of oscars before Sam Smith. I'm amazed he hadn't realized Elton John was gay!

honey!oh sugar sugar. To me, the song is just hideous wailing, but I assume other people hear something different?
I like Sam Smith usually.
dixie Sir John Gielgud was possibly the first openly gay to receive an Oscar - for his part in Arthur. But I'm happy to stand corrected.

Also, I can think of AT LEAST half a dozen Bond Film themes better that Sam Smith's. including:
Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better
Duran Duran - View To A Kill
Shirley Bassey - Goldfinger
Louis Armstrong - We Have All The Time In The World
Wings - Live And Let Die
Adele - Skyfall
etc., etc.
JK2006 Rumours reach me that he declared himself the first gay person ever to have won an Oscar. Don't you just hate young people? And causing great offence to the MILK scriptwriter whose boyfriend was, according to Frankie Boyle, "sculpted from Jonathan King's imagination".

JK2006 Are the Academy deaf? Skyfall is superb; Sam's song is the worst thing in Spectre.
